CoE Statement

Centre of Excellence on Rechargeable Battery Technology (Pre-cell) is a Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Govt. of India initiative (since 2019) for catering to the industrial R&D needs (material, machine, process) of advanced chemistry cell manufacturing by SME sector in India. The CoE envisages to provide economically viable technology base, manpower training, and market analysis for commercialisation primarily through SME start-ups.

Secretary’s Message

Advanced Chemistry Cells are way towards sustainability in next decade and beyond that can cater to many manufacturing sectors of India such as e-mobility, mobile, solar, power and electronics. The CoE is a national effort for brining technology, market analysis and policy advice together to facilitate growth of a sustainable battery cell manufacturing eco-system in India though R&D and national & international collaborations

Lithium ion battery technology provides many advantages such as faster charging, better power density and performance over longer duration of time.

We value collaborations and actively seek partnerships with national and global peers to accelerate CoE technology goals and contribute to global knowledge pool.
